ORIGIN TRIPS

Origin trips have been important to the development of Camino Real Coffee Roasters. Brent traveled to several different farms to discover the differences in their farming practices, harvesting, milling, and processing. Though every country and every farm have the overall same product, it can be handled differently which will relate to the care and quality of the coffee. By visiting with farmers and millers we can find the process that best works for our company. Whether the coffee is washed, honey process or natural it is all about the attention and care that is taken with the coffee. The farmers and millers make an impact on us as well as we make on them.

We all have the same goal to make an even trade for a wonderful cup of coffee, which encourages the farmers to produce a great coffee for us to roast and share with you. We give just as much attention to the roasting process to bring out the wonderful quality of the coffee we have sourced. Our African coffees are purchased through the miller. Small farm holders bring their freshly picked coffee to the local mill where it is processed and sorted for quality. This is the most common practice in most African countries. The South Pacific coffee farmers are similar in that way. Most farms do not have mills to process the coffees.
